Spotted Woodpecker

This morning!

For several days now we’ve been hearing the characteristic toc toc toc of birds foraging for food in the trees!

This morning we were able to observe them! Two magnificent spotted woodpeckers, probably a pair, came to feed on our windowsill.

Magnificent! The campsite is a veritable haven for our bird friends, with ballets of blue tits and great tits, beautiful nuthatches and tree finches…

In the river, many ducks, including a mandarin, are present, often accompanied by cormorants, a pair of herons and the occasional magnificent great egret, known as a white heron!

If you see any birds, we’ll be happy to give you their names.
